MTI WiMAX MIMO Remote Radio Head Wins the 2009 Innovation Product Award |

Hsinchu, Dec. 15, 2009 - Microelectronics Technology Inc. (MTI) today announced that the newly developed WiMAX MIMO RRH (Remote Radio Head) has been selected as the winner of "2009 Innovation Product Award" by the Hsinchu Science Park Administration.
The WiMAX MIMO RRH was designed and developed by the MTI Engineering Team. The design concept was to utilize the RRH technology to segregate all radio-related functions to be contained in a small single unit that can be deployed in a location remote from the main unit. This not only improves the RF performance and minimizes the base station equipment investment, but also provides exceptional flexibility for operators that face deployment constraints based on site acquisition challenges or physical limitations with different sites.
The product can support MIMO (Multi-input Multi-output) structure and both IEEE802.16d and 16e standards. By taking the advantage of long haul and high efficiency, it uses the optical fiber as the physical interface between RRH and IDU, which is fully compliant with OBSAI RP3-01 protocol. In addition, the unit implemented the FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) platform, which allows firmware update remotely and also easily be migrated into the new generation such as LTE or other communication standard, without changing the hardware structure. All these advanced features create more flexibility & competitiveness on the product.
