Hsinchu, Jul. 19, 2010 -  Microelectronics Technology Inc. (MTI), a leading supplier of microwave / RF equipment, today announced that it has been awarded a contract for LNB Single Cable technology products by Sky Italia, italian pay-TV owned by News Corporation Limited. Under this award, MTI will be one of 2 exclusive suppliers to Sky Italia in 2010 for its AK541-XT2 four channel single cable product.

Launched in 2003, SKY Italia is the leading pay-TV platform in Italy reaching 4.7 million subscribers as of March, 2010. Sky currently offers more than 190 thematic and pay per view channels,with a rich offer of cinema, sports, news, entertainment and programs for children through satellite, IPTV and mobile distribution.

MTI's newly developed four channel single cable product, AK541-XT2, allows multiple connections of Set Top Box tuners via a single coax cable. This particular product will be used in the installation of the Sky Italia twin tuner PVR and it is the intention of Sky Italia to use this LNB with all PVR installations in the future. For Sky Italia, this product will allow future upgrades and possible multi room functionality to consumer offerings. The shipment will begin from Q3, 2010.
